The Floyd Community sponsored the first jamboree music and variety show in 1950 to raise money for the Floyd Schools to purchase basketball uniforms! The show was very successful, and the Floyd Lions Club has been sponsoring it ever since! It continued every year until the declared COVID pandemic shut down the use of state buildings for public use. In 2023 the Floyd Lions Club is able to resume this popular event. Proceeds from the show are used to promote the benevolent community service of the Floyd Lions Club, from providing eye care and glasses for school kids who can’t afford them to school donations for student program support to supporting community members in need of assistance.
