• Wal-Mart FightHunger Spark Change

Wal-Mart’s “FightHunger Spark Change” campaign is running through May 15 at nationwide Wal-Mart stores, including Portales and Clovis Wal-Mart locations.  Funds raised through this campaign benefit Feeding America member food banks and partners, including the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico.

#FightHunger Spark Change is a simple way for shoppers to join this campaign against hunger by:

    • Purchasing certain marked products. For every purchase, a donation will be made to the Food Banks equaling 1 meal.
    • Donating a dollar amount of $1, $2, $5 or an amount of the customer’s choice at the register during checkout.
    • Using #FightHunger on Twitter and Instagram, sharing and liking campaign posts on Facebook, and using unique Snapchat filters nationwide on April 21. For each online act of support, Wal-Mart will donate $0.90 to Feeding America –enough to help secure 10 meals on behalf of Feeding America food banks, up to $1.5 Million

Clovis and Portales Wal-Mart stores donated over 261,000 pounds of food to the Food Bank last year.  “We are so thankful for their continued support of our food programs and efforts to fight hunger in eastern New Mexico,” said Food Bank Executive Director Dianna Sprague.

Feeding America began in 1979 as a clearinghouse for national food donations and is the currently the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States. The nationwide network of food banks, including the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico, provides more than 3.6 billion meals to virtually every community in the United States through food pantries and meal programs.

In its 33rd year, the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico distributes over 1 million pounds of food each year through its programs and partner agencies in Curry, Roosevelt, DeBaca, Quay, Guadalupe and Torrance Counties.
